TALKING ABOUT TENSES


TENSES
Tenses is a form of verb in grammar that indicate time of situation or event and step of arrangement. Tenses are very important in a sentence, because there’s tenses we can understand when something happen. i’ll tell you some tenses here.
1.       Present Tense is a grammatical tense that used to talk about present time. Present tense is indicate something happen in daily activity. It have some characteristic like every day, every Sunday, today, now, right now etc.
Ø  Nominal form :

i/you/we/they + to be (am/are)
he /she/it + to be (is)
Ø  Verbal form :

i/you/they/we + verb 1
he/she/it + verb 1(s/es)
2.       Past tense is a grammatical used to talk about past. Past tense is indicate something happen in past time(it’s simple) and nothing to do with the present. Characteristic of past tense is tagged with : last week, yesterday, last years etc.
Ø  Nominal form :

You/they/we + to be (were)
i/he/she + to be (was)
Ø  Verbal form :

I/you/we/they/he/she/it + verb 2
3.       Future tense is a grammatical used to talk about the future. Future tense is indicate something happen in future time. characteristic of future tense is tagged with : tommorow,next week,next month etc.
Ø  Nominal form :

i/we + shall + be
they/you/he/she/it + will + be
Ø  Verbal form :

i/we + shall + verb 1
they/you/he/she/it + will + verb 1
4.       Present perfect tense is a grammatical used to talk about past time and completed to do. Present perfect tense is indicate something happen in past time. Past time like just now, yesterday, a week ago etc. present perfect tense is tagged with : since, three times, two times etc.
Ø  Nominal verb :

i/we/you/they/ + have + been
he/she/it + has + been
Ø  Verbal form :

i/we/you/they/ + have + verb 3
he/she/it + has + verb 3


SOME EXAMPLE SENTENCES CHANGED FROM PRESENT TENSE TO (a) PAST TENSE, (b) FUTURE TENSE AND (c) PRESENT PERFECT TENSE :
1.       They use that one.                                      
                   a. I used that one. 
 b. I will use that one.
 c. I have used my money.
2.       We study English together.                        
                  a. We studied English together.
            b. We will study English together.
            c. We have studied English together.
3.       They discuss their work.                                            
                   a. They discussed their work.
             b. They will discuss their work.
             c. They have discuss their work.
4.       They have enough time.                                              
                   a. They had enough time.
             b. They will have enough time.
             c. They have had enough time.
5.       I do all of the lessons.                                   
                   a. I did all of the lessons.
             b. I will do all of the lessons.
             c. I have done all of the lessons.
6.       He sits in the row.                                            
                   a. He sat in the row.
             b. He will sit in the row
             c. He have sat in the row.
7.       I drive my car.                                                  
                   a. I drove my car.
             b. I will drive my car.
             c. I will driven my car.
8.       She hides her money.                                 
                  a. She hid her money.
            b. She will hide her money.
            c. She have hidden her money.
9.       We go to school                                              
                  a. We went to school.
            b. We will go to school.
            c. We have gone to school.
10.   He takes much time.                                   
                  a. He toke much time.
            b. He will take much time.
            c. He have taken much time.
THE EXAMPLE OF INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES :
1.       Do you enjoy that work?                            
      a. Did you enjoy that work?
b. Will you enjoy that work?
c. have you enjoyed that work?
2.       Does he write many letters?                      
      a. Did he write many letters?
b. Will he write many letters?
c. Has he written many letters?
3.       Do you send many letters?                         
      a. Did you send many letters?

c. Have you sent many letters?
4.       Do they explain everything?                       
      a. Did they explain everything?

5.       Does she attend that class                          
      a. Did she attend that class?

6.       Do you have enough time?                       
      a. Did you have enough time?

7.       Do they copy the sentences?                     
      a. Did they copy the sentences?

8.       Does she have much trouble?

9.       Does she do good work?

10.   Do the student practice?                             
      a. Did the sudent practice?

THE EXAMPLE OF NEGATIVE SENTENCES :
1.       He doesn’t work hard.                                   
      a. He didn’t work hard.
b. He wont work hard.
c. He haven’t worked hard.
2.       I don’t have any energy.                                               
      a. I didn’t have any energy.
b. I wont have any energy.
c. I haven’t had any energy.
3.       He doesn’t pay his bills.                                
      a. He didn’t pay his bills.
b. He wont pay his bills.
c. He haven’t paid his bills.
4.       We don’t see the fellow.                             
      a. We didn’t see the fellow.
b. We wont see the fellow.
c. We haven’t seen the fellow.
5.       She doesn’t use this one.                            
      a. She didn’t use this one.
b. She wont use this one.
c. She haven’t used this one.
6.       They don’t remember it.                            
      a. They didn’t remember it.
b. They wont remember it.
c. They haven’t remembered it.
7.       I don’t do much work here.                        
      a. I didn’t do mush work here.
b. I wont do much work here.
c. I haven’t done much work here.
8.       He doesn’tlisten carefully.                        
      a. He didn’t listen carefully.
b. He wont listen carefully.
c. He haven’t listened carefully.


PRESENT PERFECT TENSE USING IRREGULAR VERBS :
1.       Mr. Harries has taught English at this school for five years.
2.       I have written three or four letters to that company.
3.       The student in this class have done those two lessons already.
4.       I have known Professsor Moore for more than twelve years.
5.       Richard has taken three courses in English at this school.
6.       These steps are dangerous. I have fallen on them several times.
7.       Mr. krammer has been in the United States for three years.
8.       The janitor has shut the back door already.
9.       The students have read all of the stories in that book.
10.   Majorie has choosen a pretty dress for the party.
11.   I have spoken to my boss about the problem several times.
12.   That tree has grown at least five feet since last year.
13.   Miss King has spent over eighteen hundred dollars since May.
14.   Mr. and Mrs. Smith have bought a new house in North Plains.
15.   The real astate agent has sold  the Smith’s old house.
16.   Charles has haven a bad cold for a whole week.
17.   I’m sorry. I have forgotton the name of that book.
18.   We have borne that new song several times.
19.   Mr. Wilson isn’t here. he has gone out of town for the weekend.
20.   Mr. kennedy has worn his blue suit to the office only twince.
21.   I have sat in this same seat since the first day of classes.
22.   The money isn’t in this drawer. Someone has stolen it!
23.   Up to now, I have understood every lesson in the book.
24.   We have haven absolutely no trouble with our car so far.
25.   No one have found that girl’s purse and gloves yet.
26.   The weather has been very warm ever since Thurday.
27.   Mr. Anderson an Mr. Brown have haven lunch already.
28.   I have seen the Empire State Buildeing hundreds of times.
